Revenue Region 12, of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, in Bacolod City has recorded P731,357,387.02 for last month’s tax collection, which is 6.40 percent higher than its collection goal, a BIR collection report showed yesterday.
BIR regional director Perfecto Aranas, said the increase of P43,986,387.02 is the result of the public awareness campaign of the agency, tax campaigns, seminars, and dialogs with the tax payers on their obligations and responsibilities.
Aranas also encouraged all taxpayers to voluntarily and correctly declare their taxable income.

A coffin made of cardboard was laid in front of the Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital in Bacolod City marked the “Day of Mourning in the Hospital” yesterday of the 16 members of its employees union who were terminated last week. They also asked for donations from doctors, jeepney drivers, and private citizens who passed by the area.
Roberto Villaram, BOLMSHEU president said, the coffin symbolized their mourning for all the labor injustices they have experienced with the hospital management.
He said this is the second time they were terminated with the first in December 30, 2009 when the hospital management outsourced the janitorial and orderly jobs.

‘Diskwento’ fair
The Department of Trade and Industry, and the City of Bacolod held a Diskwento Caravan for the Negrense consumers yesterday at Masskara Hall-III of the New Government center, a press release from the city said.
Participating firms showcased their products and brands at the dealers’ discount price to consumers.
Diskwento Caravan mechanics and related matters such as the Consumer Welfare Month on October were also discussed.
