Sufficient rice seen for  2013

The Philippine Rice Research Institute has committed to give “everything” in 2013 to provide more rice to Filipinos and for export, a government press release said.

President Benigno Aquino has declared 2013 as “National Year of Rice” through Proclamation No. 494, dated Oct. 18, which enlists the help of producers, consumers, policymakers, and stakeholders in achieving the rice self-sufficiency goal.

“We will give everything in 2013 to make the government’s vision a reality,” Dr. Eufemio Rasco Jr., PhilRice executive director said during the recent 27th PhilRice anniversary celebration.

Pre-registration for jobs fair set

The Public Employment Service Office in Bacolod City will have a pre-registration for jobseekers today and tomorrow at the Robinsons Place Bacolod for a job fair slated on Dec. 7 where 52 local companies and recruitment agencies for jobs abroad will be joining.

The activity is part of the 79th anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment and in partnership with ABS-CBN Bacolod, PESO manager Moises de la Cruz, said yesterday.

For jobs abroad, recruitment agencies that will join the job fair are Pisces International Placement,East West Placement Center Inc.,GBMLT Manpower Services Inc.,Lead Resources Management Corp.,Golden Legacy Job Movers Corp.,Progressive Employment and Recruitment Agency Inc.,Arab Peninsula Manpower Services Corp.,Jones International Manpower Services Inc.,MSL Star Human Resources Corp., YWA Human Resource Corp.

Magsaysay biz head
named ‘global exec’

Doris Magsaysay Ho, president and CEO of A. Magsaysay Inc., was recognized as the Global Filipino Executive of the Year at the Asia CEO Awards 2012 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, recently.

Asia CEO Awards, presented by the American Express, represent the grandest alliance of local and international business leaders who promote the Philippines on the world stage.

The ceremony is considered as one of the largest events in the Asia-Pacific region the press release said.
