concert for a cause Nov. 4

Bacolod’s charity diva Token Lizares will hold an “Angels without Wings” concert for a cause at the La Proa 2 of L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on November 4, that will benefit 22 babies admitted at the pediatric ward of the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

Dr. Adhara Fernandez said yesterday that those who need the operations are newborn and month-old babies.

Fernandez said the babies have been diagnosed with imperforate anus, Hirschsprung’s disease, intra-abdominal tumors, gastrointestinal bleeding, bowel obstruction, hernia, appendicitis, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, hypospadias, childhood tumors and malignancies, biliary atresia, gastroschisis, omphalocele, portal hypertension, gastroesophageal reflux disease and other congenital diseases.

She said they do five to seven elective cases and 10 to 12 emergency cases per week for operations, and that they serve an average of 50 patients per day from the provinces and about 150 to 200 children in their list are scheduled for operation.

However, some do not come back for their scheduled operations due to financial reasons.

She appealed to Bacoleños to support the concert as its proceeds will go to PGH-pediatric ward for the operation of the babies.

Token will be joined by Joanne Bernal, Dr. Sherwin Rodrigo, and the Satin Rhythm Band with Nimrod Villamarzo.

Tickets are at P500 and are sold at the Token Music Studio at 2nd Floor of MC Metroplex Building, BS Aquino Drive, Bacolod City. *LTG
