An induction to remember

IVY

When the Bacolod Sampaguita Lions Club holds an event, you can be sure it’s going to be grand.

The installation of the new set of officers and induction of new members held recently at the grand ballroom of Sugarland Hotel was no exception. The incoming club president, Rebecca “Dang” Filasol, left no stone unturned to ensure the success of the affair. With her vivacious leadership style, Dang got the full cooperation of her very active club members, who pitched in wholeheartedly to hold a well-organized event.

The guests came dressed to the nines and filled the venue to almost overflowing. The A-list crowd included high government officials, media personalities, business VIPs, including Lions from Iloilo, Manila and other towns and cities of Negros, who came to grace the evening.

Dinner was a medley of superb dishes meticulously prepared for the occasion. A surprise entertainment number was performed by Lion 1st vice president Mitzie Mijares, who did a sultry Argentine tango number with her DI Julius.

The Charging of New Members was done by 1st VD Gov. Araceli Regalado, while PDG Pompeyo Querubin inducted the new members. District Gov Faustino Yuson, III MJF presided over the oath-taking of the new officers. Mayor Bing Leonardia gave a stirring message where he teased President Dang for supplying him with his eyeglasses. Ramon Roque, deputy secretary general of the House of Representatives, came all the way from Manila to give his congratulatory message to Dang, who delivered a brilliant inaugural address, stressing cooperation, unity and hard work among the members of the club to ensure its success.

We were impressed with the message of guest speaker Cynthia Villar, whose advocacy is women empowerment.

Kudos to the Sampaguita Lions Club for a grand induction!*
