Volunteerism movement
launched in Dumaguete
BY RENE GENOVE

A new movement promoting volunteerism in the province, called “Gugma ug Tabang (Love and Help)”, was launched at the Quezon Park in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental recently.

Former Finance Secretary Gary Teves, who led the launching, said he believes “there is a Jesse Robredo in all of us, willing to serve, even without recognition”.

He said various groups had been conducting medical missions, relief operations, basketball and volleyball tournaments, and they saw a need to consolidate all efforts under one name.

Reps. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) and Henry Teves (3 rd District), former Rep. Meniong Teves, local government leaders, and representatives from various sectors attended the launching.*RG
