Outreach mission conducted

Free screening and medical consultations for Bacolod City employees were conducted at the lobby of the Government Center recently as part of the 112th Philippine Civil Service anniversary, a press release from the city said.

The City Health Office, led by doctors Salome Biñas and Babylin Drilon, attended to hundreds of employees during the urinalysis, blood pressure, cholesterol and bone checks, fasting blood sugar, bloodletting and medical consultations. The electrocardiography and other tests will continue until Friday at the CHO, the press release also said.

Gilda Lluisma of the Human Resources Office said personnel from the City Mayor’s Office, Urban Basic Services, city departments, and Boys and Girls officials for the week assisted in the distribution of flu vaccines.

The Bacolod Initiative Nurturing Good Health mission team also tapped the services of medical groups and of St. Scholastica for the blood donation campaign, the press release added.*

Application to
Japan project on

The National Youth Commission is accepting applications to the Short-term Invitation Exchange Project with Asia-Oceania and North America, or the Kizuna Project, until September 28, a government press release said.

Under the project that will be held in Japan December 2012 and March 2013, more than 200 Filipino college students, ages 18 to 24 years old, and eight supervisors aged 30 to 50 years old, will have the opportunity to participate in the reconstruction plans of the Japanese government.

It aims to promote global understanding of Japan’s revival efforts in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. The project is jointly implemented by the Japan Information and Culture Center of the Embassy of Japan in Manila, the Japan International Cooperation Center, and NYC, the press release also said.

Delegates will be provided with round-trip airfare (Manila-Japan-Manila), food, accommodation, and local transportation in Japan, where they will stay for 10 days.

Cadiz receives DILG
Seal of Housekeeping

Cadiz City in Negros Occidental was awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping by the Department of Interior and Local Government recently, after ranking fourth in the 2010 evaluation of the Local Government Performance Management System of local government units in the province, a press release from the city said.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr. and City Planning and Development officer Gilbert Alparito received the award from DILG Region 6 director Evelyn Trumpeta, assisted by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.

The SGH recognizes good performance in internal housekeeping, like local legislation, development planning, resource generation, allocation and utilization, customer service and human resource management and development of an LGU, the press release also said.

The city also received P3 million cash prize and financial assistance from the Local Government Support Fund for various infrastructure projects, the press release added.*

Feeding, school
supplies given

Students of the Matabas Elementary School in Matabas Island, Brgy. Molocaboc, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, benefited from an outreach and feeding program conducted by members of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity recently, a press release from the group said.

The activity, called “Handog para sa Kabataan (Gift for the Youth)”, was in line with the group’s 44th anniversary celebration next month, and to strengthen its partnership with the community, its governor general, Jonel Torres, said in the press release.

It was participated in by the Matabas Sagay City School Division Supt. Lorlinie Ortillo, Sagay school supervisor Jonel Mañale and Matabas ES officer-in-charge Jose Dalisay, who assisted the fraternity in giving school supplies and medicines to children and their parents, the press release added.*
