Loalde wins 2009 search for
outstanding retailers

Loalde recently won the 2009 search for Outstanding Filipino Retailers – Cebu Regional Retailer Award during the 13th Outstanding Filipino Retailers and Shopping Centers of the Year Awards at the Crowne Plaza Hotel,  Ortigas   Center , a press release from the company said.

The OFR/SCY Awards are the “Oscars” of the Philippine Retail Industry.  It is a joint project of the Philippine Retailers Association and the Department of Trade and Industry, and is chaired by DTI Secretary Peter Favila.  

It seeks to recognize the country's retailers who have epitomized the model of a successful retailer in terms of growth and good ethical practices.  Loalde was judged through the quality of its product, operations, sales and marketing, social consciousness, environment and reputation, the press release said.

For Loalde, it is an achievement after all the years and effort of the team, its president, Chris Aldeguer, said.

Loalde has made a mark in Philippine fashion as one of the boutiques of choice for casual and elegant clothes. It started out with stores in the Visayas and Mindanao , but has now penetrated the Metro Manila market. Aldeguer announced that they will also be opening more stores in the coming months, the press release said. 

Loalde has 12 stores in the country: Glorietta 3 Makati, The Annex SM City North Edsa, Annex 2 SM City Fairview, Ayala Center Cebu, SM City Cebu Northwing, SM City Bacolod, Robinson's Place Bacolod, SM City Iloilo, Robinson's Place Iloilo, SM City Davao, Gaisano Mall Davao, and LKK Center Cagayan de Oro, the press release added.*

Paraiso II wins Brgy. Taloc jingle,
beautification contests

The newly-established Purok Paraiso II was champion in the Inter-Purok Beautification and Christmas jingle competitions and received the awards Monday in Brgy. Taloc, Bago City , Negros Occidental.

Its president, Hernane Saballero, was also adjudged most outstanding purok president at the Christmas party of the barangay headed by Delia Teovisio, recently.

As champion in the beautification contest, Purok Paraiso II received P4,000 in cash prize and for the jingle, P2,500. Kamingawan and Paraiso I were second and third place winners for the beautification event, and Proper North and Paraiso I were first and second runners-up in the Christmas jingle, respectively. Kamingawan and Paraiso I also won in the best Christmas tree contest.

The beautification and best Christmas tree events required the use of indigenous materials, in support to the clean and green program under Republic Act 9003, or the Solid Waste Management Act.

Purok Paraiso II will represent the barangay in the city-wide clean and green competition.

Meanwhile, Purok Paraiso II officers, including the youth, will be inducted Jan. 9, 2010.

The officers are Hernane Saballero – president, Danilo Cioco – vice president, Eufemia Cosas – secretary, Wilma Cuayson – treasurer, Errol Guzon – auditor, Ricky Tenero – business manager, Eucel Guerba and Marlen Jalea – public information officers, Noel Cornel, Edmundo Saballero and Julio Cuayson – sergeants-at-arms, and Guillermo Tejida III, Alex Lanzar, Rodrigo Cuayson and Alex Murillo – advisers.

Youth officers are Honeyleen Cosas – president, Mark Adrian Saballero – vice president, Cris Ann Lanzar – secretary, Renna Marie Saballero – assistant secretary, Jeanelee Alfon – treasurer, French Marie Cuayson – auditor, Rey Anthony Narazo, and Divine Grace Cuayson – business managers, Caren Joy Saballero, Noli Cornel, Markwell Canlas, and Jovine Moleño – PIO's, Jex Murillo, Alvin Saballero, Reve Mark Escotido, June Mersel Utana, and Joven Tenero – sergeants-at-arms, and Arlene Grijaldo and Cherrylyn Sisma – advisers.*GCT

Rizal Day
awardees named
IN SILAY

The Rizal Day celebration at the plaza covered court in Silay City , Negros Occidental, today will be highlighted by the presentation of the Silay Award of Excellence and awarding of trophies to outstanding Silaynons/offices and top taxpayers by Mayor Jose Montelibano.

The program and awarding rites on the theme, “Kagitingan in Rizal para sa ating Kinabukasan” will start at 7 a.m., a Silay City press release said.

Offices and establishments to be awarded are Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center (sports development), Silay City Health Office (healthy lifestyle), Silay TB Dots Center (TB prevention), Silay, the Sweet Life Editorial Office (history, arts, culture, tourism, governance), Balaring Mangrove Rehabilitation – IKAW-AKO (environment), Hugyaw kansilay Festival Committee (arts, culture, tourism).

Silay Tourism – Community Affairs (tourism, community service), Hawaiian Philippine Company (tourism, economics), Silay City Division – DepEd (school media, sports, athletic, culture), Brgy. E. Lopez (community service) and Brgy. IV (community service), the press release said.

The individual awardees for education are Alicia Sagre Pedral, Federico Pillon, Wilfredo Hermosura, Naneth Benedicto, Federico Espinosa, and Reynaldo Ofamen.

Lights of Bago set Friday

For fun-loving Negrenses, the road will lead to Bago City , a press release from the city said.

The city will hold its second Lights of Bago, a musical fireworks extravaganza sponsored by the city and provincial governments, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Smart Communications in cooperation of the International Friendship Club of Negros Island, the press release said.

The January 1, 2010 program will feature a draw that offers 30 cellphones for raffle tickets sold at 10 courtesy of Smart and gift bags donated by Stoffels' family and friends in Luxembourg .

Raffle proceeds will go the Bago City Children's Playground project, Mayor Ramon Torres said.

The Lights of Bago extravaganza at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Complex will start with an audio-visual presentation at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m. where Torres and lawyer Raymond Stoffel, honorary consul of Luxembourg and a Bago resident, will give short remarks, the press release said.

Entertainment numbers will be provided by the Noble JC, young performers from the Children's Joy Foundation of Bacolod City and the pep squad of the Ramon Torres National High School .

Stoffel said the fireworks display is his way of saying thank you to Filipinos, Negrenses and Bagoeños for their friendship and warm hospitality. He said the fireworks display will be larger and more thrilling than last year's presentation.

It will be synchronized to the rhythm of three movie themes – Star Wars, Mission Impossible and Conquest of Paradise and will be capped with Russian Dances music.

The fireworks display will be produced by David Villanueva's Specrtra Eliminator Corporation.

Alexis Winters, Smart Negros area manager, said raffle tickets are available at all their load centers, retailers' booths and a counter which will be set up at the sports complex on Friday.

Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo will deliver a thank you message after the fireworks display.

Masters of ceremonies for the fireworks program are Dr. Eliezer de la Cruz and Emilie Villanueva, the press release added.*
