Last pre-screening set today

The last pre-screening day for the Miss Teen Philippines Western Visayas search will be held today from 1 to 5 p.m., at the I and B Travel and Tours, at the ground level of Divisoria Mall, Luzuriaga Street, Bacolod City, a press release from event organizers said.

Event regional coordinators Jose Ipo Jr. and Joan Briones will screen the applicants. Pre-screened applicants will undergo the final screening Feb. 25, 1 to 5 p.m., at Sugarland Hotel.

The pageant is open to Filipino female students aged 14 to 18. Entry forms are available at I and B Travel and Tours with Tel. Nos. 433-9745 or 0916-494-3847, the press release added.*

Bacolod cited for
programs on nutrition

The Bacolod City government led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and its health and nutrition officials received the first runner-up award in the Search for the Most-Child Friendly City in the Philippines.

Region director Dr. Lydia Depra-Ramos of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas congratulated Leonardia and acknowledged his health and nutrition efforts to serve children, and pregnant and lactating mothers, a City Hall press release said.

The Local Council for the Protection of Children headed by Leonardia and the Department of Social Services and Development, have undertaken child-friendly projects like the day care centers, and have responded to the needs and issues of children.

Meanwhile, the feeding program of the city called "Insumix" through the Urban Basic Service Division, also received an award of excellence from Malacaņang, the press release said.

The city also recently launched the Nutripan, a supplementary feeding for Insumix, for 700 students in two elementary schools, the press release added.*

Pathology updating set

The Philippine Society of Pathologists-Negros Panay Chapter, in coordination with the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. Negros Occidental Chapter, will hold a scientific meeting and laboratory updates at 8 a.m. on Feb. 24, at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City, a PAMET press release said.

Six topics will be discussed for pathologists, medical technologists, and physicians.
