2 of 6 swindlers nabbed
for bribing Cadiz cops
Two of the six "bodol-bodol" gang members arrested
in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, tried to bribe policemen with
P15,000 in exchange for the release of their four companions, the
police said.
Marilyn Soriano, 30, and Flora Campos, 64, were
arrested by the police in an entrapment operation at Villena Street
in Cadiz City, on Thursday, a day after four of their companions
were also apprehended for victimizing two minors through a "bodol-bodol"
operation.
Initial police investigations showed that Soriano
and Campos offered P15,000 to members of the Cadiz police, in exchange
for the release of their colleagues identified as Felix Esporas,
Ramil Ortiz, Anabel Roxas and Karen Luna. The arrest of the gang
members by a team of Cadiz policemen led by Chief Inspector Jefferson
Descallar also led to the recovery of a black Toyota Corona vehicle,
suspected to be carnapped, a .38 caliber revolver with three live
ammunition, five cellphones, assorted jewelries and wrist watches,
wallets, ATM cards containing P1,420 in cash, and eight small pouches
containing several bundles of cut newspapers with a fake P100 bill
on top.
Investigators of the Cadiz PNP are inviting victims
of the bodol-bodol gang to visit their station, and help them file
charges against the arrested suspects.
Police investigations showed that the modus operandi
of the bodol-bodol gang includes leaving behind a bundle of cut
newspapers topped with money with their victims in exchange for
valuable items.
The six suspects arrested are now detained at the
police station jail of Cadiz City.*GPB
