Three mayors in Oriental Negros are openly supporting the candidate for the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II election against an incumbent director.

Mayors Rodolfo Gonzales of Valencia, Rodolfo Yee - Bacong and Rodrigo Alanano - Dauin, said they are behind Rovic Jade Yee who will run against incumbent NORECO 2 director Lenny Joy Alviola, the daughter of Bacong Vice Mayor Lenin Alviola.

They said the younger Alviola had failed to meet the expectations of her district in the delivery of basic services.

File petition to amend
C.O. 60, drivers advised

Dumaguete City legal officer Neil Ray Lagahit yesterday advised members of Motor-Piston to file a petition to amend Ordinance Number 60 to address what they claimed to be an "excessive and immoral" permit, and franchise fees among pedicab drivers and operators.

The Kabataan Party List groups joined the Kilusang Mayo Uno-Motor Piston in front of City Hall Wednesday to express their disappointment with the Sangguniang Panlungsod, for the increase in the fees.

Members of Anak Bayan and Anak Pawis Party lists also participated in a lightning rally in front of the City Hall, to oppose the ordinance.

PNOC-EDC expands
programs on health

The Philippine National Oil Company-Energy Development Corporation and the Valencia local government, Oriental Negros conducted yesterday free medical dental services to residents in the town.

Dwight Maxino, manager of PNOC-EDC, said the firm is committed to maintain a healthy community and environment, especially in the host barangays of Valencia.

He added that programs involving community outreach are part of the corporate social responsibility of PNOC to the community.
