3 NegOr mayors back
Noreco poll candidate
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Three mayors in Oriental Negros are openly supporting the candidate for the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II election against an incumbent director.

Mayors Rodolfo Gonzales of Valencia, Rodolfo Yee - Bacong and Rodrigo Alanano - Dauin, said they are behind Rovic Jade Yee who will run against incumbent NORECO 2 director Lenny Joy Alviola, the daughter of Bacong Vice Mayor Lenin Alviola.

They said the younger Alviola had failed to meet the expectations of her district in the delivery of basic services.

Alanano said he is not aware of any director representing Dauin in the NORECO Board, adding that, a number of electric poles have been put up in the barangays, but they have no electrical connections until now. In Valencia, Gonzales said he considers it an irony that host barangays of the geothermal plant could plunge into darkness in brownout lasting for two to three days.

He lamented the apparent inaction of the incumbent director on the electrification program in Cambucad, Valencia.

Yee confirmed that the scheduled board elections of the cooperative had been tainted with political color.

He said he was told that, electric meters are removed or withdrawn when the incumbent director finds out that the consumers are affiliated with the opposing camp.*JG
