and handcrafted products from various municipalities of Iloilo will be showcased
during the One-Town, One-Product Fair, organized by the Department of Trade and
Industry, on July 9 to 15 at SM Activity Center in Iloilo City. The OTOP
Fair, themed "Ang Galing Mo Pinoy ! Go Negosyo!", will also commemorate the Small
and Medium Enterprise Development Week which focuses on the role of the micro,
small and medium enterprises in the country's economic growth. Among the
products to be displayed are handloom woven products from Miag-ao, rice wine from
rice of Pototan, bamboo products from Maasin, San Enrique, New Lucena, and mango
fruits of Leon and Igbaras. Also taking part in the OTOP Fair is the Advocate
for Philippine Fair Trade Inc. which has help further upgrade and develop technology
for processed food sectors. AFTI's help can be seen through the kind of
packaging and labeling of Ilonggo processed products. DTI-Iloilo Director
Diosdado Cadena said the government has intensified the implementation of OTOP
through the P15 billion credit fund earmarked by the Development Bank for the
SMEs. He said the fund will address one of the constraints of SMEs being faced
by SMEs which is lack of funding.*PIA back
