GK Village energized soon

The Gawad Kalinga Kalinaw Village in Sitio Kakha, Barangay Talalac, Santa Catalina, Oriental Negros may be energized before the year ends, Institutional Services Division chief Leovigildo Elmaco of the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 2 said.

The village is one of the projects of Gov. George Arnaiz and the first GK Village of the Couples for Christ in an identified insurgency area.

Elmaco said that, aside from the villagers, about 100 more residents living near the GK Village are also interested in having electrical connections.

Sitio Avocado, also in Barangay Talalac, has been benefiting from electrical connections for two years now.

In the NORECO 2 area, only four barangays have not been energized yet. These are Apoloy, Mantikil in Siaton, San Isidro in Pamplona and Manduaw, Villareal and Kalantukan in Bayawan City.

Barangays Fatima and Calicanan in Pamplona will also be energized before the year ends. The two barangays were scheduled for energization last December but the posts were downed by typhoon Milenyo.*MA
