Nine teams have expressed interest in joining the first-ever St. John's Institute Alumni Association basketball tournament that will start late this month.

The teams that have signified their intention to join are SJI batch 86-87 Boston Finance of Gilbert Sy, batch 91 and 92 Eversure Marketing of Joaquin Gochangco, batch 93 Talisay Vice Mayors Office of CB Lacson, batch 94 and 95 WMS Trucking & Crane services of Wilford Sy, batch 97-98 BTY Trading of Bitoy Yee and batch 99 and 2000 Lopues' of Jason Yap.

Also joining the tournament are the SJI faculty and Queen of Peace Parish, outgoing SJI varsity team and the current varsity squad, a press release from organizers said.

Games will be played every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at the SJI Activity Center. The tournament will end before the alumni homecoming in December. The tournament aims to foster brotherhood among alumni, the press release added

Tournament fee is pegged at P8,000 per team.

Deadline for the submission of line-ups is set today. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to SJI, the press release added.*
