Barangay Alijis' penchant for pulling off a surprise victory in the open category of the MassKara Festival street and arena dancing competition continued for the second straight year yesterday.

Gyrating with style and energy, the Alijis dancers grabbed the spotlight again where the stakes were higher, after missing out on the top prize in the barangay category Saturday.

It marked the second straight year that the group came through with the golden performance in the open category.

With yesterday's triumph, Alijis, which swept the open category awards last year, took the P100,000 purse, while first runner-up Barangay 23, which topped the barangay category Saturday, was awarded P75,000. moremoremore
