BY MARICAR ARANAS & RENE GENOVE

A decomposing body of a dolphin was found Friday, floating along Tañon Straight between Siquijor and Dumaguete City , the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources reported.

The dead dolphin, with an estimated weight of 100 kilos, was spotted by the crew of M/V Prima Saldy Ewe. It bore severe injuries, particularly on the belly, and its tail was severed, which indicate it could have been attacked by sharks, the BFAR said.

The BFAR, which later buried the dead dolphin, said it does not discount the possibility that the incident could have been caused by fishermen.*MA/RG
