Three unopposed directors
declared winners at Ceneco

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Central Negros Electric Cooperated Board of Directors has approved a resolution creating a “power rate watch” that will monitor the rates of electricity under its franchise area.

CENECO president Arnel Lapore made the announcement after his re-election to the Board of Directors, during its regular district election Saturday in Bacolod City.

Lapore, Zenaida Lacson and Roberto Montelibano, representing Districts ll, lll and VII, respectively, were all unopposed.

The “power rate watch” will be like the People’s Graftwatch that was headed by the late Dr. Patricio Tan, and will be composed of 15 people from different sectors within CENECO’s franchise area, Lapore said.

Each local government will be represented in the “power rate watch” including the business group, the academe, urban poor, and the media, among others

CENECO will interact with the group to check the factors affecting power rates since they cannot increase rates without the approval of the government particularly the Energy Regulatory Commission, he said.

Meanwhile, the Annual General Membership Assembly of CENECO will be on May 12, 2012 at the University of St. La Salle Colliseum.*CGS
