Jeepney barker killed in
multiple car collision

A jeepney barker was killed in a multiple vehicle collision at the junction of the Circumferential Road and C.L. Montelibano Drive in Bacolod City, Monday.

Police Officer 2 Wilson Go, traffic investigator, identified the victim as Jonathan Alpanta, 55, of Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod.

Investigation showed that the jeepney driven by Leo Dajay, 29, of Brgy. Taloc in Bago City, Negros Occidental, was heading south of the Circumferential Road, when it was hit by the tailing Isuzu truck mixer of Ricky Cordero, 32, of Brgy. Maglingin, Bago.

The impact caused the jeepney to move forward and hit another jeepney driven by Reynaldo Tribulano, 30, of Purok Bayanihan in Brgy. Villamonte.

The Isuzu truck mixer, meanwhile, continued running, hit the parked jeepney of Wilfredo Pinas, 61, Purok Sabes, Villamonte, and sideswiped Alpanta, who was standing beside the road.

The Traffic Management Unit said there have been nine fatalities from traffic accidents from January to March this year.*APN

2 rob-slay suspects nabbed

Policemen arrested two suspects in murder and robbery with homicide cases in Toboso and Isabela, while two unlicensed firearms were recovered in Silay and Kabankalan cities, all in Negros Occidental.

Senior Insp. Nazzer Canja, Toboso police chief, reported yesterday the apprehension of Antonio Alic Jr., 31, in Sitio Malinawon, Brgy. Poblacion, Toboso, by virtue of the arrest warrants for robbery with homicide, and arson, issued by San Carlos Regional Trial Court Judge Kathrine Go, who denied him bail.

Senior Insp. Jason Manguilimutan, Isabela police chief, said suspect Maximo Licanda, 57, was also apprehended Sunday in Brgy. San Agustin, Isabela, on the strength of an arrest warrant for murder charges, issued by Judge Fernando Elumba, who denied him bail.

That same day, members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team endorsed Gerald Navarro, 24, to the police, after he was arrested in Sitio Golf, Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay City, allegedly for illegal possession of a homemade .38 caliber revolver firearm.

A homemade improvised 12-gauge shotgun was also surrendered by kagawad Efren Jose Gaspillo to the Kabankalan City Police, in line with its “Oplan Bilang Boga” campaign.*GPB

Burger joint,
house ransacked

Suspected robbers ransacked a burger store in Brgy. Sum-ag and a residence in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Sunday and Monday and took several items, the police said yesterday.

Hebera Bico, 21, of Brgy. Poblacion in Bago City, Negros Occidental, and employed by the Keru burger store told the police that she discovered the robbery at her workplace when she opened it at about 9 a.m. Monday.

Bico claimed the suspects took 17 eggs, 10 hotdogs, three cans of softdrinks, five cans of mango juice, nine tetra packs of juice drink and a bottle of mineral water.

Investigation showed that the robbers entered the burger store by destroying the ceiling.

Meanwhile, three teenagers were arrested by Station 7 policemen, at about 8 p.m. Sunday after they broke into a residence at Santol Avenue in Brgy. Mansilingan.

Police identified the suspects as Jorge Manaay, “alias Nik-Nik”, of Purok Matahom, Lester Destor, 19, and Emmanuel Balota, “alias Gipos”, 18, of Purok Paglaum, all of Brgy. Mansilingan.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Karyl Mugemulta said that the suspects entered the residence of Eduardo Miranda, 47, at about 4 p.m. and took a laptop computer valued at P16,000 two projector units valued at P40,000 each.

The suspects are now detained at Police Station 7 and charges are being readied against them.*APN
