2 apprehended for hold-up
of Indian national in Bacolod

Two men suspected of robbing an Indian national in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, were arrested at about 9 a.m. yesterday, but their companion was able to escape.

Robert Buyco, 21, of Purok Maanyag 2, and Tantan Cabarles, 18, of Purok Gaisano, both of Brgy. Alijis, admitted the crime when presented to Bacolod City police director, Senior Supt, Ricardo de la Paz, but refused to identify their companion.

Police Officer 2 Anvir Fritz Pigar of Police Station 2 said he had just arrived home at Villa Baradas Subdivision when someone informed him that an Indian national was being robbed in a nearby area.

Pigar responded immediately and caught the suspects but the unidentified Indian national was no longer there. He recovered from the suspects a tube pipe and P280 in cash believed stolen from the victim.

Police investigation showed that Buyco had just been released from detention for robbery charges in August this year.

De la Paz said he will commend Pigar, who was actually on his day off yesterday, for the arrest of the two. He appealed to other robbery victims in Bacolod to visit Police Station 7 in Brgy. Mansilingan, where Cabarles and Buyco are now detained, and identify them.

Station 1 policemen also arrested Punard Mago, 29, of San Juan Street in Brgy. 12, Bacolod City in Purok Malipayon in the barangay at about 7 a.m. yesterday for alleged robbery.

Police Officer 3 Rene Labating and Police Officer 2 Glenn Montano recovered a brown pouch with P69.25 in cash, and two cellular phones from Mago when he was arrested.

Complainant Geresty Servando of Purok Malipayon told the police that Mago broke into his house at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and took several items.

A make-up artist was also held up, and his P50 in cash and cellular phone valued at P3,700 were taken at about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.

Jake Macabebe, 28, of Purok Sabes in Brgy, Villamonte, Bacolod, told the police that he was walking in Purok Kagaycay on his way home from the house of his customer when a certain “Jimboy” held him up at knife point.
