‘Water available for
Canetown residents'

Water will soon be available to residents of Canetown Subdivision in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, a press release from the Canetown Homeowners' Association said.

Alegria de los Reyes, its president said Pump No. 3 at Phase 3 of the subdivision will be operational next week.

She also said the VMC Rural Electric Service Cooperative will also energize the area once the pump is installed. The coop stopped operation when its cables and equipment worth P73,000 was stolen, and the unpaid electric bills ballooned to P52,000. It also disconnected power on July 3 when the unsettled bills of Pump No. 2 reached P299,000, the press release said.

De los Reyes appealed to residents to settle their monthly water rate charges of P300. With more than 1,000 residents regularly paying their bills, the water system will no longer experience power disconnection, she added in the press release.*
