Undefeated in the tournament with nine straight wins, Joshbianc completed the journey to the championship with an 87-76 taming of Orix Metro to bag the title in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 2nd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament, Wednesday night at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Joshbianc ruled the final game by outscoring Orix in the first three quarters and enjoying a 16-point lead going into the payoff period.
Arnol Laureño was an unstoppable force for Joshbianc in the shaded área as he got away with 17 points in the second quarter to give the team a 46-39 lead at the break.
Orix was kept afloat by Robbie Jalando-on and Edward Uy, who scored eight points each during the first half.
Picking the right time to shine for Joshbianc was Daniel Lo as he gave his team a big lift by delivering 15 points, including three triples, to extend the lead at 72-56 even as Jan Jan Guevarra unloaded seven points for Orix.
Doubling their efforts to salvage the situation, Orix outscored Joshbianc in the fourth quarter as Jalando-on spearheaded the rally with 10 points, while teammate Dr. Chico Coruña provided support with five points.
Still, Joshbianc was able to preserve its lead as twin towers Laureño and Ralph Ong combined for 12 points.
Laureño finished with 27 points for Joshbianc while Lo tallied 15 points, Joshua Co, Yap, and Ong added 9 points each and Arvin Chua shot 8 points.
Jalando-on was the lone doublé digit scorer for Orix with 23 points, Pao Pao Lim contributed 8 points, Guevarra had 7, RJ Iligan and Anthony Chua fired 6 points each.*NAB
