Pacquiao to KO Marquez
local sports pundits predict

Manny Pacquiao will knock out Juan Manuel Marquez in the 8th or 10th round, is how local sports leader Oscar “Dodong” Bascon foresees the ending of the fourth fight this Sunday (Phil. time) between the two great boxers at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend.

Bascon sees a more confident and a better-prepared Pacquiao heading for Las Vegas this week as compared to a bit laidback champion who lost to Timothy Bradley in June this year.

“He took that fight for granted and no fighter should do that. I think Manny learned a lot from his loss to Bradley,” Bascon, one of the founders of the Negros Amateur Boxing Association said.

Batang Pinoy goes
full blast today

ILOILO CITY - The Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Batang Pinoy 2012 Nationals Finals goes full blast today after typhoon "Pablo" weakened and is expected to leave the country’s area of responsibility.

After typhoon Pablo cancelled the opening hostilities yesterday, the organizing committee came out with a compressed three-day schedule of this annual competition designed for athletes aged 15 and under with gold medals already at stake in centerpiece events athletics and swimming to be held at the Iloilo City Sports Complex.

PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez said some athletes, who got stranded at the port, are expected to arrive here including delegates from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Organic Solutions, AACI Trading
capture Fil-Sino basketball crown

Organic Solutions held off Jast Enterprises, 90-88, to win the Class A title, while AACI Trading turned back JSY Countertrade, 75-64, to grab the crown in Class B of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 3rd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Seeded No. 2 going into the finals, Organic Solutions almost squandered a four-point lead with less than a minute left as Jast’s Ritche Militante sunk a trey to cut the lead to a point.

With the game on the line, Arnol Laureño missed his two free throws to put Organic on the edge and open the door for Jast to grab the lead.
