for 2013 WVRAA in Capiz

After holding the Palarong Panlalawigan this week, all winners in the different events will start preparing for the province's participation in the 2013 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Assn. Meet that will be hosted by Capiz.

Romeo Sison, Negros Occidental DepEd sports coordinator, confirmed yesterday that Gov. Victor Tanco of Capiz wrote a letter of intent to DepEd Regional Director Mildred Garay, manifesting his willingness to host the regional meet.

Sison said that initial date of the competition is on Feb. 17 to 21, and they will hold a meeting among the coaches first week of January next year.

Donaire visits Malacañang

MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III welcomed Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire to Malacañang yesterday.

The Filipino boxing superstar called on Aquino at the presidential palace, fresh from his successful defense of his World Boxing Organization super bantamweight title against Mexican Jorge Arce last December 15.

Also on hand to welcome Donaire were Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Secretary Ramon Carandang and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.
