Cops ready case against ‘addict’
for beheading 6-year-old boy

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Murder charges will be filed today against an alleged drug addict who beheaded and gouged out the eyeballs of his 6-year-old neighbor in Binalbagan town, Negros Occidental, Sunday.

To be charged is Lyndon Monton, 31, of Sitio Barangay, Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan, town police chief, Senior Insp. Albert Sy said.

The body of the victim, MJ Aguirre, is now at the residence of his grandparents, where he and his elder brother have lived since their parents left to work in Manila, Sy said.

The boy’s father works as a security guard, while his mother is a house helper, he said.

Sy added that Aguirre’s parents, who arrived yesterday, have executed a complaint affidavit to be used in the case against Monton.

The written testimonies of the witnesses who include Aguirre’s 8-year-old playmate, and the result of a post mortem examination on his mutilated body, will also be submitted as additional evidence.

Aguirre’s playmate claimed that Monton approached and asked them to go with him as he would give them something and when they reached Hacienda Pula in Brgy. San Pedro, the suspect dragged his friend into the sugarcane field.

He added that he heard his playmate crying and screaming and this prompted him to run and seek help.

Monton had reportedly been confined at the Paglaum Drug Rehabilitation Center in Bacolod City and had been released about five days before the killing happened.

Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol said they will financially help the family of Aguirre.*APN
