NCR, Central Luzon
lead lawn tennis elims

The National Capital Region  and Region 3-Central Luzon shared leads in the elimination round in the men’s lawn tennis in the 2012 State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association national meet at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

NCR earned triple wins after beating Region7-Central Visayas, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Region 1-Ilocos.

Host Western Visayas Region also posted double wins against Region 11-Davao and Region 8- Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, Region 1-Ilocos bounced back with vengeance to regain its defeat from powerhouse NCR by beating Region 9-Zamboanga Peninsula and Cordillera Administrative Region.

In women’s lawn tennis, Central Luzon posted three wins to lead among its rivals in this year’s SCUAA national Olympics by beating Region 4-Southern Tagalog, CARAGA and Region 12- South Central Mindanao.

CARAGA, NCR, Southern Tagalog and Cagayan Valley regions had two wins each in the ongoing competiton, while Western Visayas prevailed over Davao Region but suffered defeat from Eastern Visayas region. The NCR and WV are also leading in the track and field events.

In shot put, Western Visayas seeded athlete Jason Bachetsa prevailed while Alvin Coronacion of Southern Tagalog placed second and Bachetsa’s compatriot Adonis Salomag settled for third.

In high jump, NCR’s Christopher Rey Demata won first place while Marlon Marasigan from Ilocos Region placed second and John Peter Celemente of Central Luzon at third place.*PNA
