Guv bares 2012 targets
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday called on employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government to work harder to serve the people of the province.

Since the provincial government employees have been given more, the people of Negros Occidental deserve more from them in service, the governor said.

The employees have been granted bonuses of P50,000 each and are expected to receive pay hikes this year.

Meanwhile, the governor said the bidding in December for the construction of the Negros Cyber Center at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City was aboveboard.

Only the joint venture of E.M. Cuerpo Inc. and Dynamic Builders and Construction Inc. entered a bid offer, which was P449,873,520.20.

Text messages circulating said other contractors were barred by the Negros Occidental Provincial Bids and Awards Committee  from joining the bidding.

PBAC chairman Joy Percival Salado Jr. denied the allegation, while the governor yesterday said notices of the bidding were published so all who wished to participate would be informed.*CPG
