Seamen jailed for killing
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A seaman who had celebrated his birthday Monday landed in jail with his brother, who is also a seafarer, after they allegedly ganged up on and fatally stabbed their neighbor in Brgy. Singcang Airport, Bacolod City, yesterday.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Art Zureta identified the victim as Henry Morin, 42, of Purok Cadena De Amor, in Brgy. Singcang Airport.

Morin sustained stab wounds on the chest, left wrist and his right side. He was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival, Zureta said.

The suspects, Geoffrey Galvan, “alias Nonoy”, 37 and Jerry Galvan “alias Toto”, 36, who was celebrating his birthday, are both detained at Police Station 8 lock-up cell and are facing homicide charges, he said.

Investigation showed that the younger Galvan and Morin met at the pathway of the purok at about 7 a.m. yesterday, and had a heated argument followed by a fistfight before the stabbing happened.

Zureta said that when the elder Galvan saw what happened, he took a stone and hit Morin on the head causing him to fall on the ground. The Galvans then ganged up on him and stabbed him, he added.

The Galvans claimed that Morin ran amuck and threw stones at their house Monday night when they failed to invite him to Jerry’s birthday party.

Police records show that the Galvans had also been stabbed and injured by three of their neighbors on November 19, but Zureta said this had nothing to do with the case they are now facing.*APN
