Capitol to buy another dredger
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday assured the mayors of Negros Occidental that the provincial government will buy another dredger to step up efforts to prevent floods.

The $1 million state-of-the-art dredger that was purchased by the provincial government is presently dredging the rivers of EB Magalona, Mayor David Lacson said.

After EB Magalona, it will be used by Talisay City, San Enrique and Pontevedra, the governor added.

The backhoe of the provincial government that is also being used for the clearing of waterways will be used by Moises Padilla after EB Magalona, the governor said.

Lacson said the mayors had passed a resolution calling on the provincial government to buy another dredger.*CPG
