Aguilar rules Cadiz motocross

Motocross icon Glen Aguilar of Metro Manila bagged the championship in the Open Production Final category of the First Mayor Patrick Escalante Invitational Motocross Competition held recently at the Reclamation Area, a press release from Cadiz City Hall said.

The victory in Cadiz was the 13 th career championship for the 38-year-old motocross stalwart who started reaping honors since 1996 both in national and international events.

His latest race in Basilan last June 23-24 earned him another championship.

During the awarding rites in Cadiz City , he said he went straight from Basilan to join the competition in Cadiz that coincided with the city's 45 th Charter Day Anniversary.

“I was here in 2006 and I can see many achievements in the place. I would like to thank Mayor Escalante for having this event after six years,” he said.

Riders Edgar Dajay Jr., champion in Expert 2012 from Dumangas, Iloilo ranked second, while another Ilonggo Oreot Acdol, who topped the Open category settled for third place.

Fourth place honors went to Jose Ocaban III of Barotac Nueve, who also bagged the championship in Intermediate category. JR Guguban of the St. Vincent Racing Team from Valladolid placed 5 th overall.

Other winners were: Kirk Balasote ( Iloilo ) and JR Guguban ( Iloilo ), second and third placers in Intermediate category; Benjie Buenconsejo, champion in Intermediate Moped with Cadiznons Ivy Dequinto at second place and Jake Parreno, third place.

Team Racal's Ryan Tim Gado dominated the 4-stroke Local Enduro 155cc category, while Inday Lipaopao of Sagay City and Bacoleño Andy Sermonia booked the second and third spots.

In Expert Moped final, Jose Ocaban III won the event followed by Benjie Buenconsejo, and CB Jordan Loreno of Manduriao Iloilo City .

Executive class top three winners were John Fernandez, Manas Planas ( Iloilo ), and DJ Tan (San Enrique).

Negros riders made their presence felt in the Beginners Moped with Talisaynon Venjie Jastillana topping the event followed by Louie Rosal (Cadiz) in second place and Dave Maestrecampo (Kabankalan City) at third place.

Top three winners in Expert Production were Acdol, Edgar Dajay Jr., and Jose Ocaban III.; Open Local Enduro -- Jordan Loreno, Kent Lacuesta and Jose Ocaban III; Novice Moped – Ivy Dequinto, Venjie Jastillana, and Joseph Lobano; Beginner Production -- Janjan Fernando, Kate Gepaya, and Jasper Fernando; Novice Production -- Jackie Cortez, Romar Villarmino and JR Guguban.*
