DILG, business community
set to talk on ‘sprinkler law’

An Undersecretary of the Department of Interior on Local Government is arriving in Bacolod City next week to meet with entrepreneurs who are protesting the retroactive implementation of Republic Act 9514 that requires the installation of sprinkler systems.

Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Frank Carbon said yesterday that the meeting is scheduled on June 19 but the venue will be announced later.

He said they will ask for an extension of moratorium against the RA9145 as it will greatly affect the business sector, or that old buildings could install smoke and fire alarm systems, instead of sprinklers, stressing that installation of sprinklers system will be too costly.

Bacoleño wins
P1M in BIR promo

A Bacoleño won P1 million in the Instant Premyo sa Resibo of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, a program that encourages the public to continually demand and ask for official services for goods and services rendered.

Teresita Legaspi, Taxpayers Assistance Unit head, named the winner as Rene Corral, who won the raffle draw in April.

She said Corral is the first winner in Bacolod to win the P1 million since the program started.

Employers reminded to avail
of Pag-IBIG condonation plan

Pag-IBIG Fund Bacolod is reminding unregistered and delinquent employers to avail of its penalty condonation program that ends June 30, a press release from the agency said.

The program covers unregistered and delinquent employers, as well as employers who have coverable employees from whom they did not collect membership contributions.

Employers who have deducted but did not remit membership contributions and/or short-term loan amortizations from their employees are disqualified from the penalty condonation as well as employers who have previously availed of the program the press release said.
