City official denies
memo on uniforms
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The City Administrator of Dumaguete said on Thursday that there is no existing memorandum that penalizes employees of the city government, for not wearing the prescribed uniform.

William Ablong said a memorandum Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria signed last year, explicitly provides only that city employees wear the prescribed uniform daily, from Monday to Friday, according to the colors and sets assigned for each day.

Reports have said that some employees claim that their superiors sent them home or warned they will be marked them absent for not wearing their uniforms.

Ablong also said that, employees of the city government were given a P5,000 clothing allowance recently and now have the option to pick the tailor, dressmaker or the shop for their uniforms.

He, however. said they can be reprimanded and marked as “uncooperative” given a written warning asking them to explain within a certain period why no disciplinary action should not be taken against them for not wearing their uniforms.*JFP
