Brownouts set Saturday

Several areas in Negros Oriental served by its two electric cooperatives will experience brownouts Saturday as the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines announced a scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission facilities in these areas.

The power interruption is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 a.m. due to maintenance activity at the Amlan-Guihulngan 69kV transmission line NGCP’s Corporate Communications Officer Elmer Cruz said.

Specific cities and municipalities to be affected by the power interruption are determined by the distribution utilities, the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative I and II, unless the activity affects the entire franchise area, he said.

The distribution utilities allot the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among end-users, he said.

Normal operations will resume after work completion.

NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary precautions for the power interruption.* JFP
