A barangay Kagawad of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, who is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the late Executive Judge Henry Arles, surrendered to the Police Regional Office-6 Intelligence Unit and the Criminal Investigation Detection Group in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City. at about 4 p.m. Friday.
RIU-6 chief, Insp. Julio Turcolas identified the barangay Kagawad as Buenaventura Selibio, “alias Boy”, 59, of Pinaguinpinan, Kabankalan City.
Turcolas said Selibio is facing charges for robbery with violation against or intimidation with force filed by a resident of Brgy. Pinaguinpinan in January this year with bail set by Arles at P100,000.
He added that, aside from Selibio, also facing the same charges are barangay captain Captain Samuel Carrera, another Kagawad of Brgy. Pinaguimpinan, two tanods and army Corporal Jimmy Manugas of the 12th Infantry battalion based in Central Dacongcogon, Kabankalan City.
Manugas had already been arrested several months ago, while Carrera surrendered to RIU-6 last month, but was released on bail, police records showed.
Complainant Felipe Gagatam of Purok 5 Brgy. Pinaguinpinan claimed that Carrera and his companions ransacked his house and store at about 12:30 a.m. on January 7, this year and took his Norinco .45 caliber pistol and P142,000 in cash.
Gagatam added that the raid stemmed from the complaint of a certain Aromy Lestino, who claimed that he took his tricycle.
Turcolas also reported the arrest of Juvy Nietes, “alias Ebok”, 54, of Brgy. Sta Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental who is wanted for illegal possession of explosives at his residence at about 2 p.m. Friday.
He said Nietes was apprehended on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Judge Estefanio Libutan, Jr, who set his bail at P200,000.*APN back
