Syntax, Condura, Panasonic
book 2nd win in BUS G tilt

Syntax, Condura and Panasonic dropped its opponents in Sharp-BUS Group Invitational Basketball at West Negros University, Sunday afternoon.

With only nine players reporting for the game, Syntax managed to subdue Melfern/San Dionisio, 74-62, while Condura survived Homesite Basketball Organization, 90-89.

Panasonic stopped BACIWA, 96-81, to give the Watermen its second loss.

Dagol Flores had one of his best performances in the tournament as scored 31 points for Syntax, while Arnel Tornilla added 14 and Edgar Basco tallied 10.

Bayer Brothers, Rex and Rigor, who manned the backcourt and provided a tough defense, had an identical eight-point output.

Three-point artist Leo Illustracion hit 12 points, all from the arc, while Jose Cadagat also tallied 12 points. Rene Verde muscled his way with 11 points for Melfern/SD.

Meanwhile, Condura had some difficult moments taming HBO in all four quarters of the game before escaping with a one-point victory.

Bert Celis got away with 23 points, Felipe Tumamot made 21, Bernie Chan chipped in 14 points for Condura’s second win.

Lanky Bantong and partner Francisa Occida combined with 34 points, Jomario Mahilum scattered 11 and Amit Teruel sank 10 points for Buddy Ferrer's HBO group which trailed 33-48 at the break.

In the battle between Panasonic and BACIWA, the former broke loose in the third quarter with Hermi Derwil leading the charge as he scored 10 of his game-high 35 points.

Rey de Guzman joined the scoring fray with 20 points and Wendell Fuentebella hit 18 markers. The team also got a consistent defensive plays from Ed Cruz, Steve Leonidas and MackyMacayan.

The single round robin elimination phase ends July 15 and crossoversemifinals start July 22.

Games on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. pit Panasonic against HBO while Syntax and Condura will part ways at 2:30 p.m.

Melfern/SanDionisio and BACIWA aim for its first win at 4 p.m.*
