BY CARLA GOMEZ

A Bacolod trisikad driver was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for the sale of four sticks of marijuana.

Judge Edgar Garvilles of the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod said he sentenced Johnny Mayuno to life imprisonment for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, also known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for selling four sticks of marijuana during a police buy-bust operation in Eroreco Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan, in September 2004.

He was also sentenced to 12 years and one day, to 15 years imprisonment for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165, for possession of 15 marijuana sticks, the judge said.

Mayuno has been detained at the Bacolod City District Jail for almost eight years.*CPG
