4 more suspects in
Ceneco heist identified

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Four more suspects in the robbery of the Central Negros Electric Corporation of P3.6 million in cash two weeks ago were identified by the Bacolod City Police Office yesterday.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz identified the suspects as Gerlado Saniel “alias Gagang” and Roel Remedios, “alias Yoyong” both of Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, Richard Dagoman “alias Tangkad” of Tambulig, also in Zamboanga del Sur, and Ruel Alvarez of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.

Two of the 12 suspects were earlier identified as Reynaldo Bacolod “alias Toto” of Las Piñas City, and Joseph Calarmo of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

The Bacolod City Police coordinated with their counterparts in Zamboanga del Sur to identify the suspects.

De la Paz said the men are members of the Alferez group with links to the Parohinog robbery group and Kuratong Baleleng Gang with local contacts that help them to execute their plan. The group is organized and operates nationwide and do not only specialize robbery hold-up but are also into kidnap for ransom activities, he said.

National Bureau of Investigation-Bacolod chief Ferdinand Lavin said Saturday that the gang members believed to be Ozamis-based originally, had two targets for kidnap- for-ransom but may have found it difficult to carry out their plan, and shifted to a soft target, which was CENECO.

BCPO issued advisories to business establishments and banking institutions to be vigilant, install close circuit television cameras, and hire more security guards because there are indications that some of the members of the group behind the CENECO heist are still in Bacolod City, De la Paz said.

He said charges for robbery in band will be filed, probably tomorrow, against the six suspects who have been identified.*APN
