PhilHealth eyes new
benefit package

MANILA – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. will hold a summit today aimed at developing a benefit package for its members in catastrophic conditions, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, acute lymphocytic leukemia in children and kidney transplant.

PhilHealth president and chief executive, Dr. Eduardo Banzon, said PhilHealth had been been striving to make quality care more affordable to all Filipinos with Special Benefits Product Development Team developing a benefit package for the type Z "catastropic" conditions.

PhilHealth has adopted the theme "Bawat Pilipino, miyembro. Bawat miyembro, protektado, Kalusugan natin, sigurado" as its faces the challenge of achieving universal health coverage, Banzon said.

He said the Oncology Summit would provide for "the exchange of input and perspectives from key stakeholders, generate public awareness on the issues involved in the development of the type Z benefit package, and foster relationships among stakeholders.

The summit will start at 8 a.m. at the Bayanihan Hall A of Unilab, in Pasig City and end with ceremonial signing of commitment.*PNA
