Drivers get livestock

The affiliate members of the Sentrong Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Negros Inc. in Brgy.Taloc, Bago City, recently received 20 piglets from the Negros First Animal Dispersal program of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.

Cathyrine Narez, provincial livestock inspector, said yesterday that the drivers of tricycles and public utility jeeps were also trained in animal management and raising to help them grow the animals.

Farm animals are given to qualified beneficiaries to help them in their livelihood and to generate additional income for their families, she said.

Nares also reminded the beneficiaries of their responsibilities to the government. She said the dispersal is not a dole-out project and that they must return the number of animals dispersed to them for which the PVO will later issue a certificate of ownership.

She said SSTONE has been a beneficiary of the dispersal program and that PVO has seen great developments in their livelihood and income, which is the main goal of the program – to provide sustainable income to their families.

PVO will give out another 30 piglets next week to other members of SSTONE, she added. *LTG
