PNP to probe reports
cops killed ‘gun-for-hire’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, yesterday said that he will look into reports that policemen were involved in the killing of suspected gun-for-hire Pic Raymnond Longno.

Unconfirmed reports said that the two-bonnet wearing men who shot Longno while he was walking at Malaspina Street, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, Sunday, used a silver Honda Civic vehicle with PNP 111 commemorative car plates attached to it, as their get-away vehicle.

De la Paz, however, said that the commemorative car plate of the PNP was purchased not only by policemen but also by civilians as it is a fund raising drive for the organization’s 111th year anniversary.moremoremore

‘Paglaum plebiscite P3.3M’
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Commission on Elections in Manila has estimated the cost of holding a plebiscite for the conversion of Pagla-um Village in Bacolod City into a new barangay, at about P3.3 million to the Bacolod City government.

Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, said they will endorse the matter to the Office of the City Mayor for evaluation since they have to allocate the funds for the project.

Distrito had requested the COMELEC office in Intramuros, Metro Manila Monday for an estimate from the Office of the Deputy Executive Director for Operation.moremoremore

Capitol employees may
picket if SP delays budget for pay hike

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Some employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government are threatening to stage a picket if the 2013 budget of the province containing an allocation of more than P100 million for the last phase of salary increases granted them under the Salary Standardization Law is not approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on time.

But Alfredo Dinoy, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees, said the matter can be tackled through discussions with the SP, and there is no need to stage a picket at this point.

The SP Committee on Finance and Appropriations is currently deliberating on the P2.020 billion proposed budget for 2013 submitted to it by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. moremoremore
