Guv orders dismantling
of toll booth at Dayoyo
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Gov. Roel Degamo has ordered the Negros Oriental police to dismantle the toll booth at the Dayoyo Bridge in Jimalalud after receiving complaints from motorists, farmers and pedestrians alike.

Degamo sent Erwin Vergara to Jimalalud Wednesday to see to the immediate removal of the toll booth.

The province had received complaints that a certain Edwin Cimafranca is collecting toll fees, using a tax identification number from the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

Degamo recalled that when the Dayoyo Bridge was badly hit by the earthquake on Feb. 6, enterprising landowners also took advantage of the situation and collected fees at the detour road.

Vergara said he will recommend the filing of expropriation proceedings, and has called on the lot owner to bring his case before the court to resolve the issue once and for all.*JG
