split swimming honors

San Beda men tankers and the University of the Philippines women's team shared the limelight in swimming yesterday as each squad captured eight gold medals in yesterday's swimming competition of the 17th Sandugo University Games at the Univesity of St. La Salle Swimming Pool.

NCAA 2012 swimming Most Valuable Player Wilfredo Sunglao led the Bedans with four golds as he topped the men's 100n freestyle and 100m backstroke, and was part of the quartet that dominated the 200m freestyle relay with Andrei Lorenzo Manzo, Ruenpone Jugar, and Joseph Lance Sanone and the 400m medley relay with Joselito Vinluan, Lorenz Joshua Francisco, and Christian Jude Subibi.

Ateneo battles
UST at WNU Gym today

In their last encounter two weeks ago at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila , Kieffer Ravena of the Ateneo Blue Eagles and Jeric Teng of the Growling Tigers were battling for the crown in the UAAP. Today the two promising collegiate players will try to bring their team closer to this year's University Games crown.

Game time is set at 3:30 p.m. at the West Negros University Gym.

Both Ateneo and UST advanced to the quarterfinals of men's basketball with the Eagles topping Bracket A with an unbeaten record, while UST slipped to No. 2 in Bracket C after bowing to Adamson University, 86-81, in the eliminations.

Mulo Car Aircon is winning in men's premiere division, and Alimon Steel and St. Joseph Adventurer's lead in the ladies group of the Suppliers Friendship Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top's Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

With one more playing schedule left, the group led by Romulo “D'Gunner” Ramos tops the premiere class with 4,756 points, 119 pins ahead of Sharp I of Irne Diaz with 4,637.

NPBC/RJ Stars of Steve Po is third in the overall standing with 4,617 followed by Davies I of Edgar Jerez and Romel Jover with 4,602.
