Enrile assures sugar industry
of continued support – NFSP

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile assured members of the Sugar Alliance of the Philippines recently of his continued support for the sugar industry, a press release from the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters.

Among those present at the meeting were Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Martin, National Federation of Sugarcane Planters president Enrique Rojas, United Sugar Federation of the Philippines president Manolet Lamata, Panay Federation of Sugarcane Farmers Inc. president Danilo Abelita, Confederationof Sugar Producers Associationpresident Lito Coscolluela.

Sugar millers were represented by Francisco Varua, Jeanne Krebs, Pedro Roxas, Jose Mari Chan and Sugar Board member Atty. Jesus Barrera, the press release said.

Bacolod represented at
consumers confab

Bacolod City was represented in the National Assembly of Consumer Organizations yesterday in Pasay City that about 80 leaders and members from consumer groups in the Philippines attended.

MaximoRavena, division chief of the consumers welfare and trade of the Department of Trade and Industry, said Bacolod City was represented by Andrea Zolayvar, president of the Consumer Association of Bacolod.

Ravena said Zolayvar has been active in promoting consumer awareness since 1985 and was among the incorporators of the National Consumer Council of the Philippines, Inc., in 1991.

ANP MassKara fair set

As part of the MassKara festivities, members of the Association of Negros Producers are displaying their top quality Negros-made products at the fountain area of the Robinsons Place Bacolod from October 14 to 18, their press release said.

This is the third year that ANP is holding this fair. It gives visitors a wide array of MassKara and Bacolod-themed items to choose from. This year’s MassKara Fair will have t-shirts, other souvenir items, Bacolod food delicacies, jewelry, garments, bags, baskets, house ware, decorative furnishings, and even furniture. Early birds shopping for Christmas gifts will enjoy the discounted prices of the items on sale, the press release said.

A new addition to this year’s line-up is the Our Food program of the ANP. Penalosa Farm and Alter Trade, members of the Our Food program, will be selling natural and organic products including mascuvado, fresh fruits, vegetables and organic meat items, it also said.
