SP approves Tourism Week
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod recently unanimously passed a resolution commemorating September 24 to 28, 2012 as World Tourism Week in Bacolod City.

Resolution No. 678 said September 27 has been declared as “World Tourism Day” by the United Nations Tourism World Organization to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

It said this year's theme is “Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development,” highlighting the need to bring the tourism sector and energy stakeholders closer together to spur tourism's contribution to sustainability.

The resolution said Bacolod City has lined up various activities on those days in observance of World Tourism Week.

The resolution was passed upon motion of Councilor Homer Bais, jointly seconded by Councilors Caesar Distrito and Mona Dia Jardin.*CGS
