3 oil firms slash gasoline rates

MANILA – Pilipinas Shell, Petron Corp. and Total Philippines yesterday joined other oil companies in reducing prices of their petroleum products.

Breaking several weeks of price hikes that burdened motorists, Shell rolled back prices of its unleaded and premium gas by 60 centavos per liter and diesel by 25 centavos per liter at 12:01 a.m. yesterday.

But just like the minor oil players, Shell hiked the prices of kerosene by 20 centavos per liter, the report said.

At 12:01 a.m. yesterday, Petron reduced its pump prices for Blaze 100, XCS, and Xtra by P.60 per liter, P0.25 per liter for Turbo Diesel and DieselMax.

However, Petron also hiked the price of kerosene by P.20 per liter.

Total Gas also brought down the prices of unleaded and premium gas by 60 centavos per liter starting at 6 a.m. yesterday.

Seaoil and Flying V cut their prices at similar rate Sunday.

The latest oil price adjustments came after an independent panel claimed there was no irregularity in recent fuel price adjustments.

Militant groups assailed the findings, vowing to conduct their own probe and a possible transport strike if fuel price hikes continue this month.

Fuel companies slashed pump prices on both diesel and gasoline following the movement on the international market.

Independent oil player Flying V Philippines led the decrease on pump prices on Sunday, cutting P0.75 on premium and unleaded gasoline, P0.50 per liter on regular gasoline and P.30 per liter on biodiesel.

SEAOIL has also implemented rollbacks its premium and unleaded gasoline by P0.60 per liter and diesel by P0.25 per liter, and hike the price of kerosene by P0.20 per liter the same day.

Price adjustment, according to the oil companies, was due to the movements in the international petroleum market.*PNA
