Neg.Or. hospital income
expected to reach P130M
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The income of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital for 2012 is projected to reach P130 million, from last year’s P94 million, Provincial Health Officer Dante Domingo said yesterday.

With this income, NOPH can repay the proposed bank loan of P350 million to construct the Central Block Building, which, he said, is badly needed by the more than 400,000 “poorest of the poor” Negrenses.

Domingo said the loan is a good investment for the health of the people, but added that he understands the sentiments of several local officials who are hesitant over the proposal of the provincial government.

Buglasan festival to go on
despite low LGU support
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Buglasan Festival showdown will push through even without the participation of any city or town in Negros Oriental, Gov. Roel Degamo said yesterday.

This was after Degamo learned that no local government unit has yet officially confirmed participation in the showdown that is the highlight of the festival from October 12 to 21. The deadline for the submission of entries is tomorrow.

Degamo said he understands the predicament of some mayors and that financial constraints may be the reason for their non-participation in the festival. But he appealed to others to set aside partisan politics and celebrate the fiesta of their province.

COMELEC sees
‘festive’ filing of COCs

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Commission on Elections in Negros Oriental is gearing for the filing of the certificates of candidacy on October 1 to 5 of those seeking elective posts in the 2013 elections and provincial election supervisor Eddie Aba said he anticipates a festive mood then.

The COCs will be filed at the provincial, city and municipal COMELEC offices, and candidates will be accompanied by their supporters.

He said the five days will be solely for the COC filing, so the registration of voters will be suspended then.
