The Philippine National Police admitted that it has received P4.2 million from the Small Town Lottery operations of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in Negros Occidental, from Sept. 2011 to August this year.
Based on its records, the Super Lucky Beagler Inc. that operates STL in Negros remitted P4,256,860.49, aside from the P912,845.37 from the STL Gaming Corp. operating in Iloilo, to the PNP, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, in his report, said.
Of the P5,169,705.86 STL remittances to the PNP in Western Visayas, Cruz said P4,681,353.60 was used for the training of police personnel and repairs of facilities.
In the first quarter of this year, he said, more than P500,000 was allocated for trainings, procurement of equipment and repairs of other police facilities. The remaining P488,352.26 is still subject for appropriations by the Regional PNP-STL Fund Board headed by Senior Supt. Wesley Barayuga, deputy regional director for Operations, he added.
Cruz said the fund utilization is properly documented.
The utilization of STL funds was enumerated by Cruz, in response to claims of Iloilo Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Gerry Flores that several police officials and mayors are receiving “jueteng money”.*GPB back
