Purely circumstantial.
That was what the police said about the evidences available in the prosecution of suspects behind the reported summary execution of a jeepney barker whose body was dumped in Brgy, Pandanon Silos, Murcia .
Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, yesterday said that if the crime originated in Bacolod City , he may turn over the investigation to the Bacolod police.
The body of alleged salvaged victim, jeepney barker Randy Hervias, which bore injuries in the neck, contusions and signs of burns, was found on Saturday in a sugarcane field in Murcia .
Initial police investigations showed that while a policeman assigned at the Police Station 1 was last seen with Hervias in Bacolod City , several hours before he was found dead in Murcia , there are no witnesses who can pinpoint him as a suspect.
Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, Bacolod police chief, yesterday said the policeman linked to the killing of Hervias has vehemently denied having anything to do with incident.
Quebrar, however, said the policeman admitted having met Hervias in front of the Bacolod public plaza on Saturday morning. The body of Hervias was found at about 6 p.m. on the same day, police said.
Hervias, who has been arrested by the Bacolod police previously for theft, had served time at the Bacolod City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
Rosalie Magallanes, live-in partner of Hervias, assisted by the Murcia police, has executed an affidavit for the filing of charges against the suspects.
Tessie Hervias, his mother, hinted in an interview with DYHB that they are not pursuing charges against the policeman linked to the death of her son, citing the absence of witnesses.
Quebrar said no complaint had been filed against the policeman as of yesterday.*GPB
