Gov. Joseph Marañon yesterday said 82.38 percent of children aged 9 to 48 months have been covered by the “Knock-out Tigdas” measles immunization campaign in Negros Occidental as of Nov. 19.
This is a marked improvement from the 44 percent in Nov. 7 and it only goes to show that if the local governments help the program becomes effective, he said.
The target for “Knock-out Tigdas” is to immunize at least 95 percent of the children aged 9 to 48 months old, he said.
The campaign started Oct. 15 and the deadline was Nov. 15.
The top performers who exceeded their targets are Murcia at 103.98 percent, Victorias – 103.59 percent and Moises Padilla at 103.54, Provincial Health Officer II Luisa Efren said.
Among the performers in the bottom three were Kabankalan – 48.89 percent, San Enrique – 50.51 percent and Cauayan – 56.90 percent.
Meanwhile, Efren said from Jan. 1 to Nov. 10, there were 3,163 dengue patients were admitted in different hospitals in Negros Occidental.
