Those brownouts!

These are just my thoughts concerning the recent spate of power shortages affecting Bacolod City .

The power outages on Sundays when you are lying in bed and looking forward to relax by browsing the internet or watching a DVD were already annoying enough to deal with but with the recent frequent recurrence of power outages in our city our it is my opinion that the progress of our city is severely hampered. I do not think that Bacolod City will be very successful in its efforts to attract investment opportunities and present itself as a major player among Philippine cities because there is one very essential ingredient missing, and that is a RELIABLE power supply.

This is one of the most essential ingredients of a successful and progressive highly urbanized city. Unless we address the issue of the power outages we cannot even dream of promoting our city as a hub of development and telecommunications. Imagine the amount of time and money that is wasted due to these power shortages (not to mention the frayed nerves), or also the cost of repair of machines that have been damaged by the constant outages or even the amount of money spent on acquiring generators and paying for the gasoline prices for those who can afford to have them installed.

This is just unacceptable and also unfair towards those who are investing or have invested in the progress and future of our city. I would like to enjoin our local government to please look into and address this issue as our current power company is obviously incapable of doing so itself. This would certainly be a worthy investment in the future of a progressive Bacolod .

Sincerely,
