Dark Blue shuttlers top
docs and reps' tourney

Shuttlers donning the Dark Aqua Blue colors captured half of the titles at stake to the overall championship of the 3rd Bacolod Doc and Reps Badminton Club Tournament held recently at the Pohang Badminton Center.

Dark Aqua Blue annexed the Ladies A and Men's C titles and booked a 1-2 finish in the Men's B to garner 133 points, foiling the spirited challenge of Tangerine team.

Tangerine accumulated 118 points on the strength of two titles and three runner-up finishes. Emerald Green landed third with 113 points while team Gold ended last with 106 points.

Dr. Ernesto Namin spoke and made the ceremonial toss at the opening ceremony and handed the trophies and medals at the awarding ceremony. Dr. Namin was adopted as honorary member of the club. Dr. Viki Guanzon said that the aim of the annual event is to promote healthy lifestyle and foster camaraderie among physicians and medical representatives.

Dr. Michelle Yusay and Dr. Jennie Kho routed Dr. Caroline Yu and Michelle Lemoncito of Team Gold, 21-12 in the Ladies A division, while Julius Incon and Eizer Teologion ripped Jay-r Andan and Bryan Delfin of team Emerald green, 21-4, in the Men's C division.

In the Men's B division, Dr. Benny Reinoso and Dr. John Paul Oliveros survived teammates Dr. Joey Lobaton and Dr. Lemuel Lee, 21-16, providing the crucial points that ensured the overall championship to the Team Dark Aqua Blue.

Matt Hermano and Henry Callueng demolished teammates Dr. Willy and Dr. Jun Guerero, 21-13, in the Men's A title match while Irene Gamboa and Briggs emerged victorious in the Ladies B division for the twin championship for team Tangerine. The only title for Team Gold came in the Mixed double Championship where Val Totol teamed up with Dr. Caroline Yu to edge the tandem of Dr. Viki Guanzon and Ronwel Abad, 21-17.*
